Bengal tiger – male
Yehudah was bought from a breeder in Pakistan and kept as a pet. However, after only a few weeks, his “owner” surrendered him to a veterinarian because he was in great pain, unable to walk, and was virtually paralyzed. It was discovered that he was suffering from multiple bone fractures as a result of poor nutrition. He received the required veterinary care and underwent a long period of rehabilitation while in the care of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board. He had to learn to walk again, but typical of him, nothing could break this young cub’s spirit. Once fully recovered, he was relocated to ISINDILE in collaboration with IWMB, The Aspinall Foundation, and Second Chance Wildlife Pakistan.
Yehudah was released into Or’s enclosure on Valentine’s Day 2024, but was definitely not Queen Amber’s (his direct neighbour) Valentine! Amber was not happy with this young and extremely playful tiger living next to her. Although she would growl and snarl at him every time she saw him, his gentle personality allowed him to take it in his stride, and he never seemed offended by her attitude. Yehudah was named in memory of Amber and Or’s brother, Judah, whose death at Seaview Predator Park was the catalyst to being able to bring Amber and Or to ISINDILE. Yehudah, along with Sahara, is our most active big cat.
